REMINDER: Expiration of Professional Development Days by June 30, 2020

Dear Bargaining Unit 2 Member:

Pursuant to Section 13.24 of the Unit 2 Memorandum of Understanding: All Bargaining Unit 2 members shall be permitted up to five (5) Professional Development Days per fiscal year. These days may be used for activities such as, but not limited to, professional association activities, professional or personal development activities and seminars, other types of activities to enhance or promote the personal and professional growth, productivity, and goals of the employee. In other words, their use is unrestricted. They are to be requested and approved in the same manner as vacation or annual leave. They are not allowed to be accumulated and must be used in the same fiscal year in which they accrue. These paid leave days are recorded on the STD 634 form as “PT” and listed on the Pay Warrant as “TRNG/DEV.”

Although we are facing trying times, and the majority of our membership has been working from home for the last few months, this should not discourage you from utilizing this important benefit. Now, more than ever, the State’s legal professionals are in need of days that are available to enhance or promote personal and professional growth, whether that involves remaining in your home or venturing outside.

Keep in mind that this leave must be used before the end of the fiscal year – June 30, 2020. Please direct any questions or comments regarding these benefits to the CASE office at info@calattorneys.org. Please include “2020 PDD” in the subject line of your communication.

This email may not reach all CASE members. Accordingly, CASE encourages you to pass this email along to any of your colleagues who may not have received it. If you are not receiving CASE emails and wish to receive future communications from CASE, please send an email to info@calattorneys.org and request to be added to the distribution list. CASE also encourages you to send responses from your personal email address as opposed to your state email address. Please keep in mind that all responses will be treated as confidential by CASE.

As always, your support of CASE and your colleagues in Bargaining Unit 2 is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

The CASE Board of Directors
